WAVEstream Bluetooth Speaker Review: Small, Affordable, Powerful

The WAVEstream bluetooth speaker seeks to
fill a gap in portable audio. So many products
come close to ticking all the options, but
seem to miss on a few key components. So what
about the WAVEstream? Well, with the usual
bluetooth connectivity, and easy pairing,
along with volume control, track skipping,
even into conference calling and auxiliary
input combined with a standout style, everything
seems to be set up for a success on paper.
So let’s dive in and see if that translates
into a well executed device, or if this is
just another in a long line of disappointments.
From the soft feel material, and subtle edges,
to the stark colours and rubber feet for sound
isolation, at first look, the style of the
WAVEstream stands out. On top of the device,
you’ll find the usual controls for play/pause,
volume up/down, and even track skip. but You
will also find the button for answering and
ending phone calls. The front of the WAVEstream
houses the stereo speakers, and around back
you will find the charging port, on/off switch
and aux cable input.
But good looks and great style don’t mean
much if you can’t hear the thing, and thankfully
the Wavestream Bluetooth speaker delivers.
This will get LOUD, without distortion, and
has a great sound output. Highs sound clear
without being tinny, mids come through without
being muffled, and lows...yes lows, are rich
and deep. Put this together, and you have
a portable speaker that doesn’t sound disposable.
Now, don’t get me wrong, no one will confuse
this for a full 7.1 ultra high def surround
sound system. But, this sounds way better
than many of the more expensive units available,
plus has some great features that others don’t.
Track skip. This feature is missing on so
many speakers. The point of a portable speaker
is ease of use without having to babysit your
phone. Track skip, while a simple feature,
completely breaks the experience when missing,
and thankfully is included here.
Conference calling. This is a user specific
feature. In any application where I need a
portable speaker, I am unable to successfully
use the speaker as a phone. Not because of
sound quality or anything wrong with the device,
but just because the environments don’t
allow for speakerphones. If I am outside,
at a park, near a pool/lake, a phone call
is difficult. Technically, yes it works, just
fine. And if you are in your office with this,
or anywhere that allows for phone calls like
that, then this works great. It is a great
feature to have, but it will be up to you
how great.
A Removable Battery. Ok this might sound irrelevant,
but you can find these little batteries for
cheap on line, and have a few extras for your
camping trip or hiking. Battery life is good
on the WAVEstream, BATTERY LIFE RESULTS but
if you plan on being away from an outlet for
a weekend, it is nice to swap the battery
out and keep going! On a typical speaker,
when the batteries die, so does the party…
Available in 4 colors, A great look and feel
compliments a great sound on the WAVEstream.
Swappable batteries, full audio control, and
conference calling make a great device at
a great price that’s compatible with just
about any device that has bluetooth, or any
device with an headphone jack.
Summer is here, which for a lot of students
means Summer Reading! And what better way
to catch up of the classics than with an audio
book on the WAVEstream speaker. You can listen
to you summer assignments or any other of
